Text Box:  Portuguese Presidency of the Council of    the European Union

 Portugal assumed the Presidency of the Council of the European Union as from 1 July to 31 December 2007. During this period an intensive work was carried out in the EUPAN framework, with a view to complying with the mandate that was assigned by the Ministers responsible for Public Administration to the Portuguese Presidency, with particular emphasis on the preparation of the Medium Term Programme 2008-2009 and the joint framework for the European Social Dialogue Test Phase (2008-2009) for central government administrations, along with the work programme set by the working groups, that in the case of IPSG was responsible for the organization of the 3rd European CAF Event (more).



Medium Term Programme 2008-2009

 A new work programme for EUPAN Working Groups and new methods to enhance cooperation between them was approved by the Directors-General responsible for Public Administration at their 49th meeting held in Lisbon on 10-11 December 2007. This new framework establishes a horizontal approach to deal with the subjects that were chosen for 2008-2009 (more).

 

First Learning Team (LT) on Administrative Burdens

The first LT created in EUPAN held its first meeting on 29 January with the participation of 14 countries.  The two main goals of this LT is to develop a methodology to benchmark and exchange European best practices in the field of reducing high impact administrative burdens for citizens and exchange of experience and to gain practical knowledge of national approaches and methodologies to measure burdens and to identify possible improvements and actions for simplification. Welcome to the Slovenian Presidency

Slovenia is the first of the new Member States to preside to the Council of the European Union. Slovenia Presidency will take place from 1 January to 30 June 2008. The priorities that were presented for this semester are mainly included in the common programme set up in collaboration with Germany and Portugal, the two preceding countries (more).
