44th Meeting of the Directors General, Mondorf-les-Bains, 9 - 10 June 2005

Innovative, competitive and performance oriented public administrations are essential to contribute to realizing the Lisbon goals and to ensure a high quality delivery of public services. In this regard, the exchange of experiences and good practices among the members of the European Public Administration Network (EPAN) are useful instruments to improve the efficiency and quality of public administrations in the EU Member states.
Against this background, the Directors General of Public Administration:
Agree to continue and to progress work in the areas of cooperation mentioned below
Agree that the network will in future put a stronger focus on Lisbon related activities as laid down in the new Mid Term Programme 2006-2007 and in the report of the ad hoc group.
Appreciate the final report of the ad hoc Lisbon Group, which includes an integrated plan of activities for the different working groups aiming at enhancing the policies set out in the Lisbon process.
Welcome, as laid down in the Mid Term Programme 2006-2007, that under the UK Presidency the activities of the working groups will be reviewed in order to better take into account the Lisbon context as well as improving the efficiency and coherence of the EPAN network.
