Public Sector Performance: An International Comparison

On behalf of the Dutch Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations the Social and Cultural Planning Office of the Netherlands has conducted an extensive international comparison of public sector performance. The re po rt contains â€" at a macro-level â€" a wealth of information on input and output of education, health care, law and order, and public administrations. The most im po rtant finding is that a high level of expenditure does not necessarily guarantee good performance in terms of the provision of public services.
